If you are the kind of man who needs to understand exactly what he is stepping into before he applies this page was built for you. Every fact about Battleworn Legacy, stated plainly, with nothing omitted and nothing inflated.
Stages of the journey
What Battleworn Legacy is, who it is for, what it requires, and how a man gets in. Start here.
Battleworn Legacy is built for business owners, executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs, men who have built something in the world and are quietly losing everything that matters at home. The man who runs a company but cannot lead his family. The man whose employees respect him and whose wife is exhausted by him. The man whose calendar is full and whose presence is empty.
This program is for the man who is drifting not failing visibly, but fading quietly. He is successful by every external measure and knows something is deeply wrong by every internal one. He has not been in acute crisis. He has been in slow, comfortable decline and he is ready to stop.
It is not for men in active addiction or acute mental health crisis those men should pursue professional care first. It is for the man who has everything the world says he should want and has never felt more hollow. That man is exactly who this program was built for.
Battleworn Legacy is explicitly and unapologetically Christ-centered. Scripture is the governing authority. Every element of the program, the DADS framework, the Convergence curriculum, the Commission standards is rooted in and measured against the Word of God.
That said, a man does not have to be a Christian to apply. Men who are not yet followers of Christ are welcome with one non-negotiable condition: he must fully acknowledge and respect that Battleworn Legacy is a Christian organization and that Jesus Christ is at the forefront of everything we do. He will hear the Gospel. He will be challenged by Scripture. He will be surrounded by men who are governed by their faith. If he can honor that he is welcome to step into the fire alongside them.
We do not require a man to have all the answers before he walks through the door. We require him to be honest and to respect the authority under which this program operates.
A man applies through the Apply for Consideration page. After submitting his application, he is contacted for an Instructor interview with Battleworn leadership. If accepted, he is enrolled in the Covenant, the mandatory pre-Convergence stage. Entry into the Convergence follows completion of the required Covenant sessions.
This program is selective. Not every application is accepted. The Instructor interview exists to ensure the right men enter at the right time.
Yes. Every applicant goes through an Instructor interview before acceptance. Not every man who applies is accepted. Selectivity is intentional cohort size is capped at 12 to 20 men to protect the depth of the experience. A small room of honest men produces things a large room of performing men never can.
Each Convergence cohort is capped at 12 to 20 men. This limit is not logistical, it is theological. Iron sharpens iron in close quarters. The depth of transformation that happens in the Convergence requires a room small enough for every man to be known, challenged, and held accountable by name.
The Convergence takes place at a private location in Montana. The exact location is not disclosed until a man has been accepted and enrolled. Montana was chosen deliberately, it is remote, distraction-free, and impossible to half-attend. You cannot leave early. You cannot check in from the parking lot. You are fully present for five days or you are not there at all.
Phones are surrendered at intake and returned at graduation. Five days. No exceptions. This is one of the most important elements of the entire program and one of the most commonly questioned before arrival. Every man who has been through it describes the phone surrender as one of the decisions that made everything else possible. The distraction has to go before the forge can work.
There are three Convergence cohorts in 2026:
July 22–26 Filling fast
September 23–27 Open
November 4–8 Open
Spots are limited to 12–20 men per cohort. Apply early to the July cohort fills before most men expect.
Every man who graduates the Convergence receives
He also leaves Montana with the Battleworn issued gear he used throughout the five days rucksack, apparel, custom Bible, compass, and notebook. Everything issued to him during the Convergence is his to keep.
Yes. Battleworn Legacy offers a 100% experience guarantee with three stipulations: full participation in every element of the program, compliance with all standards and requirements, and sincere good-faith engagement throughout. The guarantee exists because we are confident in what this program produces in a man who actually submits to it. It does not exist to protect a man who arrives with walls up.
DADS is the four-cornerstone framework that governs every Battleworn man for life:
D — Devoted Mark 12:30 — daily surrender to God as the non-negotiable foundation of everything else.
A — Armed Ephesians 6:11 — body treated as a weapon, mind treated as a battlefield. Physical and mental discipline, not optional.
D — Defender 1 Timothy 5:8 — standing between his family and everything that would destroy them. Defense is the most aggressive form of love.
S — Steward 1 Corinthians 4:2 — nothing belongs to him. He builds with what he has been given. He leaves more than he took.
These are not program values. They are the permanent governing standard every commissioned Battleworn man lives under for the rest of his life.
Foul language is not tolerated at any stage of the program, not in the Covenant, not during the Convergence, not in the Commission. This is not a rule posted on a sign. It is a standard that reflects the character of the men who lead this program and the culture they are building. A man who governs his tongue governs his life. That standard begins the moment he applies.
Battleworn Legacy is not a boot camp. There is no drill instructor screaming in your face. There is no hazing, no humiliation, and no instructor who mistakes cruelty for toughness. Physical challenge is part of the Convergence but the goal is never to break a man down. It is to build him up.
We meet every man where he is physically. A man who has not trained in years is not disqualified. A man who is not in peak physical condition is not behind. The physical elements of the Convergence are designed to challenge each man at his level because the goal is not physical performance. The goal is the conviction that a Battleworn man does not let comfort make him soft. That standard applies to every man regardless of where he starts.
No. Battleworn Legacy does not judge. Every man who walks into this program walks in as a man who has fallen short because every man has. The instructors who lead it are no different. The brothers in the cohort are no different. What a man has done before he arrives is not the story that defines him inside this program. What he is willing to become is.
Everything in this program is rooted in Scripture and Scripture is clear that condemnation belongs to no man here. Romans 8:1. We are men helping other men lead for Christ. That is the whole mission. There is no room in it for judgment, superiority, or shame.
The culture of Battleworn Legacy is captured in one sentence: men helping other men lead for Christ. Not men performing for other men. Not men competing against other men. Men who have walked through their own fire, standing beside a man walking through his honesty, accountability, and the full weight of brotherhood behind every word they say to him.
The instructors here are not drill sergeants. They are not motivational speakers. They are not there to impress you or break you. They are there to forge you. There is a difference. The forge is serious. It is challenging. It is at times deeply uncomfortable. But it is never cruel, never humiliating, and never without purpose. Every hard thing in this program is rooted in Scripture and aimed at the man God is trying to build in you.
There is one King and it is not the founder, not the Lead Instructor, not the Advisory Board, and not any man who has ever graduated this program. King Jesus is the only King. Every standard in this program is His. Every man in this brotherhood is under His authority. Every instructor who stands in front of a cohort in Montana stands there as a servant of Christ not as a ruler over men.
This is not a leadership hierarchy with a man at the top. Christ is at the top. Everything beneath Him, the founder, the board, the instructors, the brotherhood exists to serve the mission He gave, under the authority He holds, for the glory that belongs to Him alone. No ego. No kingdom-building for men. One King. One mission. His.
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.” — 1 Timothy 2:5
Who built this, who leads it, who governs it, and why it can be trusted. The questions every skeptical man asks — answered directly.
Battleworn Legacy was founded by Trent McMurtrey, a veteran, husband, father, and businessman who built this program from his own story. He was the man leading at work and losing at home. He was the man providing everything and present for nothing. He did not build this program because he studied the problem. He built it because he was the problem — and because the environment this program creates did not exist when he needed it most.
Yes. Battleworn Legacy is veteran-owned, Military and First Responder led, and purpose-built for men who have served though it is open to any Christian man who qualifies. The culture, the challenge structure, and the standard of this program were all shaped by men who understand what it means to perform under pressure, operate in brotherhood, and carry a mission that does not end when the weekend does.
Battleworn Legacy is governed by a seven-member Advisory Board chosen for character, not title — who hold the mission, the doctrine, the program standards, and the finances accountable. The board was intentionally set at seven: the number of completeness in Scripture. Their oversight is active and ongoing, not ceremonial. This is not a one-man operation.
Yes. Battleworn Legacy operates under a complete, publicly available Statement of Faith built on evangelical convictions rooted in Crosspoint City Church’s theological framework. It covers God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, Scripture, salvation, eternal security, the Church, marriage, ordinances, and eternity. Pastors and elders who want to vet this program theologically before referring their men are encouraged to read every word of it.
No and this is stated without hesitation. Battleworn Legacy was built to serve the local church, not replace it. Active church membership is required for all leadership and expected of every man in the Commission brotherhood. Men who complete the Convergence are specifically charged to return to their local church and serve it with greater intentionality. The Commission holds them accountable to that. We send men back stronger. That is the design.
Battleworn Legacy is Montana-hosted. The Convergence takes place at a private location in Montana chosen for its remoteness, its lack of distraction, and its physical environment which plays a specific role in the five-day formation process. Administrative and leadership operations are managed outside of Montana, with the Convergence itself as the central event.
The two stages that bookend the Convergence, what they are, what they require, and why neither one is optional.
The Covenant is Stage 1 of the Battleworn journey mandatory before the Convergence, no exceptions. It consists of bi-weekly online gatherings of one hour each, led by trained Battleworn instructors. A minimum of two sessions must be completed before a man can attend the Convergence. The Covenant introduces the DADS framework, begins the accountability structure, and ensures a man arrives in Montana prepared rather than cold.
No. The Covenant is mandatory. A man who arrives in Montana without completing the required Covenant sessions arrives unprepared and the Convergence is too important to survive on enthusiasm alone. The Covenant is not a formality. It is the foundation. The change that happens in five days in Montana is built on the work that began in the Covenant weeks before.
The Commission is Stage 3 — brotherhood for life. Every man who graduates the Convergence automatically enters the Commission. It is not a continuation program. It is not a membership. It is an identity the permanent brotherhood every Battleworn man belongs to for the rest of his life. No expiration. No graduation. Once a Battleworn man, always a Battleworn man.
The Commission gathers both online and in person, organizes men into brotherhood pods, and delivers ongoing mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional challenges under the DADS standard permanently.
One group only: men who have graduated the Convergence. There is no other entry point. The Commission cannot be purchased, applied for, or entered through a referral. It is earned in Montana and nowhere else. This exclusivity is the source of its power. Every man in the Commission has been through the same fire. There is no substitute for that.
The Commission holds a man to the DADS standard for life through four channels:
Online gatherings Structured, regular, accountable, not optional check-ins.
In-person gatherings The brotherhood assembles. Some things can only be said face to face.
Brotherhood pods A small group of men from your cohort your primary accountability for life.
Ongoing challenges Mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional across all four dimensions, permanently.
The Commission is what makes the Convergence permanent. Without it, the five days in Montana are inspiring. With it, they are.
A man can choose to disengage but the identity does not leave him. A commissioned Battleworn man carries that standard for life, whether he is actively participating in gatherings or not. The Commission is not a subscription. It is who he became in Montana. A Marine does not stop being a Marine because he is not on active duty. The Commission works the same way.
Every question about cost answered directly and completely. No numbers are hidden. No surprises exist after acceptance.
Yes. The Covenant is free included with acceptance into the program. There is no charge for the bi-weekly online gatherings led by trained Battleworn instructors. A man pays nothing until the Convergence investment is discussed and agreed to during his Instructor interview.
Because the investment conversation belongs between a man and the leadership of Battleworn Legacy not on a webpage. The Convergence is not a transaction. It is a commitment. The cost is presented during the Instructor interview, after both parties have determined that the fit is right. A man who is not the right candidate does not need a price point to decline. A man who is the right candidate deserves to hear the investment in context, not in isolation.
The Convergence investment covers everything for five days in Montana:
Hotel accommodations, All meals, Transportation in Montana, Battleworn apparel ,Battleworn Bible, Notebook ,Standards card, Itinerary, Graduation gifts,
A man arrives in Montana and does not spend another dollar for five days. Everything is covered. He leaves with everything issued to him during the Convergence and with his personal mission statement, his brotherhood pod assignment, and automatic Commission enrollment.
Yes. The Commission is a separate paid investment as discussed during post-Convergence onboarding with Battleworn leadership. It is not bundled with the Convergence cost and is not disclosed publicly. The investment structure reflects a simple conviction: a man who has skin in the game stays in the game. The Commission costs something on purpose because the men who built it paid a price no check can cover, and the men who belong to it understand that.
Financial hardship is a conversation, not a barrier. If cost is a genuine obstacle for a man who is otherwise the right candidate, he should raise that directly during his Instructor interview. Battleworn Legacy was not built to be accessible only to men who can write a check without thinking about it. The right men get in. The investment conversation comes after that determination is made.
